CLE on Civility and Professional Misconduct in Court: A Conversation with Joseph Groia
Friday, October 19th from 12:15 PM - 2:15 PM
The CBABC in partnership with the VBA is presenting this unique opportunity to hear first-hand from Joseph Groia about his decade-long legal struggle with the Law Society of Ontario concerning when courtroom advocacy becomes incivility, and when incivility becomes professional misconduct.
In a conversation facilitated by Joven Narwal, Mr. Groia will discuss the Supreme Court of Canada’s landmark 2018 decision, which overturned the Law Society Appeal Tribunal’s finding of professional misconduct against him, and discuss the decision’s impact from a personal, professional responsibility, and practical perspective.
The event will take place at the Law Courts Inn Friday, October 19, 2018 from 12:15 to 2:15, with lunch served, and qualifies for 1.5 hours of the Law Society’s Ethics Requirement. For more details and to register, see the event page here
